Born Into Two Lives

Written By Patrick Daly

Now your firstborn life was without a disability.

You had your childhood, your school days, your teenage days, and your working days.

You may have got on very well in life with whatever you chose to do.

But then, your life has changed overnight and you were born into another life, a life with a disability through no fault of your own.

So with this newborn life starting, you will have to find your way through life within this modern world with the help of your loved ones, family, friends, and your own determination if you want to make the best of what you can do for yourself.

Now, it will be a hard struggle in this newborn life with a disability but it’s only you who can make a go of it in the best way you can.

You will feel all alone for maybe the first six or twelve months as you will not know which way to turn or what you want or can do in this newborn life of disability. You will feel isolated in many ways as you will not be able to do the things you used to do in your firstborn life without a disability.

One thing to remember is that there are others within this world that were born into two lives just as you were and they are getting on with their lives in the best possible way in this modern world.

Now you will really find out who your friends are now that you have a disability.

Now you are more settled down within your newborn life and maybe wondering what you can do in this new life of disability to occupy yourself and keep in touch with the outside world.

Of course, you can stay at home get to be an expert with many gadgets like remote controls for various equipment TV, etc. and just forget about the outside world. Even though you have been born into a life with a disability remember that you can still participate in many ways within this little world of ours.

You can make new friends by finding out where the clubs are within your borough that has people just like yourself who are in the same boat as you are in.

Within your newborn life, you will meet a lot of obstacles’ as you make your way in life within your disability.

Your disability will be a real challenge for you, your wife, husband whatever the case may be, and your family as well and it will be up to each one of you to support each other in every way.

One thing you should or must remember is that there is always someone worse off than you.

Life is full of challenges for everyone but when you gain a disability through no fault of your own, this life is a real challenge to anyone.
